The countryside network is a series of organisations from charities/ NGOs such as the Wildlife Trust, Keep Wales Tidy to local government Bridgend CBC.
Stemming from the Bridgend Local Biodiversity Partnership the network brings together organisations who provide countryside events.
Prior to establishing the Countryside Network, there was no co-ordination of the organisations and on occasion, there was an overlap of services or a clash of events that took place.
Events provide an opportunity to learn countryside skills such as hedge laying, coppicing and other forms of woodland and habitat management. If hands on isn't your thing there are a number of walks and talks led by knowledgeable instructors throughout the year for all age groups and abilities.
The coordinated provision of events means that should you be at a loose-end one weekend you can view the Events Page and see what event is going on that weekend. Some of the providers also offer regular/weekly volunteer groups.
Most events are Free, however we will also display when providers provide accredited training events which have a cost.
If you are interested in attending one or more events see below for details of some volunteer providers, be sure to tell them you found them through the Natural Neighbourhoods website.
If you have a volunteer group/ green space project and would like to join the countryside network please Share your green project and/ or contact Biodiversity@bridgend.gov.uk
